There are many ways to run a business. Ones that exploit labor and/or the planet in order to turn a profit, we believe, damage to all participants and are simply unsustainable.
We prefer a more 'traditional approach' to commerce.
One that respects and gives value to all involved in the transaction -- from production to use -- and thinks about the next seven generations when it comes to our 'footprint' on the earth.
And we add to it the emerging 'social venture' idea that you can 'do well by doing good'; that business is not a 'zero-sum game' where one side loses so the other can win;
and that, especially if Management is more interested in 'goods' like: "making the world a better place," "improving the quality of lives," and "thinking globally but acting locally" than in profit...
sometimes 1=1 can equal 3.
_______________
Our Mission:
To preserve and support the work of indigenous peoples by making their products, services, and ceremonies available to the general public. To support other organizations or individuals who work for native peoples.
_______________
Native Source makes every effort to ensure that 'native' practicioners and artists receive 'the lion's share' of any fees, as well as donating profits to fund non-governmental organizations that support the rights, liberties, health and wellbeing of native peoples – both in America and overseas. Native Source also provides unrestricted grants to individuals.
We also provide subsidized and free programming for Native American, and special-needs children in the Tucson area.
At present, Native Source offers scholarships for Native American kids to study Aikido in Tucson as well as funding for healthcare, cultural preservation, and film projects that benefit 'native' people around the world.
A retail store, “Native Source Trading Post”, is in the works and will soon provide a physical location and outlet for native artisans, herbal remedies, cultural gift items, and organic, locally-growns foods in the North West of Tucson.
Native Source also plans to operate a cultural and recreational facility dedicated to bringing 'hands on' learning about native customs, traditional music and stories, ceremonies, equine therapy, and arts and crafts to special needs children, urban Native Americans, and to anyone seeking health, healing, and connection.
Native Source was founded by Kristobal Fimbres and Christopher Stamos.
